Pain

Black

Walking the mile; one step at a time,
On a path that might cave in.
No light in your eyes, no light that may shine,
And illuminate your dilapidated mind.
Pain.

Your vision gets hazy, your breathing drops low;
The love in your heart is erased from your soul.
You’re slipping, you’re slipping, your mind’s on the edge;
You begin to fumble, your knees; they shake.
Pain.

You’re crawling now, the end is near;
You taste the sulphur, you smell your fear.
You’re afraid of falling, and yet you’re thrilled,
For with this fall, your mind will be still.
The voices will stop, the bleeding will cease;
Your muffled cries lay bare for the breeze;
As you succumb to pain.
